Norwalk, Conn. (WTNH) - Update: All train services have resumed.
Metro-North train-takers are having their service interrupted after a bridge failure in Norwalk.
At around 2 p.m., the Norwalk River Bridge failed to close after a boat passed under the tracks.
Metro-North mechanics and track workers are on the scene, but there is no estimate on how long it will take to fix.
According to Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the bridge rotates on a gear and the gear slipped. It will have to be jacked up and realigned to fix the problem.
As a result of the bridge failure, Metro-North has ordered buses to set up a shuttle service over the river between the Norwalk and South Norwalk stations.
Trains are still operating between New Haven and East Norwalk. Those who want to get closer to NYC have to wait for a bus to take them to South Norwalk, where they can jump back on the train.
Similarly, train service between Grand Central and South Norwalk has not been affected. People wishing to travel east/north of South Norwalk will have to wait for a bus to take them over the river to the Norwalk station, where they can get back on a train.
Amtrack service from New York, NY to New Haven has also been disrupted.
