BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) - Officials at the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport say the pastor of a New Fairfield church has been removed from the post because of allegations he sexually harassed a former female church employee.

Diocesan officials told the Connecticut Post on Wednesday that Monsignor Martin Ryan was recently removed as pastor of St. Edward the Confessor Church because of the allegations. When Ryan left the post last month without explanation, diocesan officials at the time told the Post that Ryan was granted a leave of absence to deal with personal issues.

Ryan couldn't be reached Thursday. A phone listing for him was not in service.

The 49-year-old former church employee told the Post that Ryan touched her inappropriately a number of times in the church office and sent her inappropriate emails.
