The fire broke out on Railroad Avenue Thursday evening.
News 8 was told the building used to house a toy factory, later a cigarette lighter factory, and was currently vacant.
"Ya know, it was a huge, beautiful place, but now unfortunately, I don't know what was in there," said witness Sylvia Martins. "I think it might've been empty, hopefully, but I know the building is very old.
Metro North and Amtrak trains were shut down in the Bridgeport area in both directions due to the fire.
Trains were completely stalled for approximately 45 minutes before re-opening. There are still delays as trains are only operating on one track at this time.
