Bridgeport Hospital to re-dedicate burn center

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — Firefighters and utility company officials are scheduled to be among those attending the re-dedication of Bridgeport Hospital's burn treatment center.

Wednesday morning's gathering will celebrate the completion of a yearlong, $1.5 million renovation to the only dedicated burn care facility in Connecticut.

Crews added a new overnight suit for families, installed a new patient elevator, upgraded patient rooms and treatment areas, expanded staff work areas and built a new main entrance. The renovation was completed in September.

The burn center treats about 200 inpatients and 800 outpatients from Connecticut and neighboring states each year.

Tours of the upgraded facility will be given to guests at the ceremony.
