About three pounds of marijuana were seized in a drug bust in Bridgeport today. Police also say four small children were found alone in the apartment with the drugs.
The bust happened at an apartment on Rose Street. Police say they stopped the suspect, Akwesi Jones, 29, two blocks away carrying the pot.
When the police entered the apartment they found a four year old child, three year old child, two year old child and a 10-month old child alone. In addition to the pot, they found ecstasy pills, packaging materials, drug scales, cash and guns.
Jones was charged with possession, operating a drug factory, risk of injury to a minor and criminal possession of firearms.
While police were searching the apartment, the children's mother returned home and was also charged with risk of injury to a minor.
Jones is being held on a $250,000 bond.
