Car crashes into a tree off the Merritt in Westport

WESTPORT, Conn. (WTNH)-- A person was injured after crashing their car into a tree off the Merritt Parkway in Westport, on Friday morning.

Police say a Ford Escape SUV crashed into a tree between exits 42 and 44, around 10 AM, causing severe damage to the car and air bag deployment.

The driver was taken to St. Vincent's hospital with leg and ankle injuries.

Fire departments cleared the scene by 10:34 AM.
