REDDING, Conn. (WTNH)-- One person was killed when a southbound Metro-North train, not carrying any passengers, struck a car on the tracks, at the Long Ridge Road railroad cross in Redding.
The car, which was a Subaru, was traveling south over the track when the train hit it.
All four people in the car were taken to Danbury hospital, where one person was pronounced dead.
The other three people are being treated for their injuries. No one on the train crew has reported any injuries.
Train service on the Danbury Branch has been temporarily suspended and replaced with a bus service for in between Danbury and South Norwalk.
The incident is still under investigation.
