STAMFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- An 8-year-old died after falling six stories Saturday evening, Stamford police said.
Officers say that an 8-year old boy and his 9-year old sister were running up and down the hallways. The boy went to brace himself while he was running towards a window when the screen went loose and he fell through.
Police said they responded to an apartment complex on 11 W. North Street shortly before 7:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a child falling out a window. The child was transported to Stamford Hospital where he were pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Police believe this was a tragic accident and that no charges will be pressed.
The complex is owned by the Stamford Housing Authority and is leased to elderly citizens.
