City launches campaign to fight blight

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) -- The city of Bridgeport is hoping a new ad campaign will get the owners of blighted property to clean up their act.

As part of the "Help Fight Blight" campaign the city is taking out ads in the Connecticut Post, calling out some of the worst offending properties in the city.

They are hoping the ads will shame owners into cleaning up the runned-down buildings and paying the fines.

If they don't come forward the city says it will take legal action.

Bridgeport has launched a hotline and a smartphone app for residents to report blight in their neighborhoods.

Residents can report blighted properties through BConnected, either by calling 203-576-1311, or going online   and clicking on BConnected, or by downloading the BConnected application for your smartphone.
