HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A bizarre twist to the tragedy at Sandy Hook. A worker in the state medical examiner's office has been put on leave, accused of showing the body of the shooter to her husband.
"To show a dead body it's messed up," said a man.
"I think it's pretty sick to be honest with you," said Rick Leers of West Hartford.
"Because people are sick and they will do it for shock value," said a woman.
Just when you thought you hear it all, people are outraged by the latest investigation into the shooting at Sandy Hook. Today the governor confirmed that there is an internal investigation going on in the medical examiners officer.
Processing Tech Jean Henery was put on leave after she allegedly brought her husband into the morgue and unzipped the body bag of Sandy Hook shooter Adam Lanza to show her husband.
"An investigation is ongoing. I will be deeply disappointed and I would expect that if it was proven to be true, whatever steps are appropriate will be taken," said Gov. Malloy.
"Why would someone even be interested in opening up a body bag if you have no relationship to the guy? It's kind of sick to be honest with you," said Leers.
It allegedly happened 2 days after the shooting and the day the autopsy was scheduled. Her husband doesn't work for the Medical Examiner's Officer and that room is reportedly off limits to Henery.
"It's not something I would care to do and it's hard to imagine who would want to do that. What are you going to gain from that, I can't imagine," said Polly Lavalley of West Haven.
"I showed it to my wife and I asked what do you think it is? She shook her head. It's insane. Why? For what? What purpose? Notoriety? You can say you have seen the body," said Jim Mugavero.
Henery is not allowed at the Medical Examiner's Office while the investigation into these disturbing allegations move forward.
"His extended family are victims also and that seems so inappropriate considering his father is still around, his brother," said Lavalley.
"I hope there are no photos. I don't want to see photos. I mean it's bad enough the whole thing happened and to have it splashed all over the newspaper again, it's wrong. It's just wrong," said Mugavero.
