FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Firefighters responded to a gas leak in Fairfield Wednesday.
Officials said road work was being completed on Alvin Rd., a dead end road, when crews ruptured a 1.5" natural gas line around 6 p.m.
As a precaution, reverse 911 calls were made to homes within a quarter-mile radius, to avoid creating an ignition.
Crews shut down the line and a Southern Connecticut Gas crew was able to plug the leak by 7:15 p.m.
Homeowners of evacuated residences were then able to re-enter their homes after personnel metered the homes to check for the presence of gas.
Take a look at some of the Report It photos we received in November, 2012.
