FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) - A two car accident in Fairfield left one person trapped in their car and the other needing immediate medical attention.

Fairfield Police responded to a call by a bystander around 8:30a.m.  The caller says there was a multi-vehicle accident on Black Rock Turnpike at Burroughs Road.  Upon arrival, Police Chief Douglas Chavenello says he called for an additional ambulance and fire truck when he noticed one driver stuck in their jeep and the other on the ground by their Hummer H3.

The "jaws of life" were needed to remove the one driver from his/her jeep.  Once removed the driver was immediately taken to the St. Vincent's Hospital along with the other driver who was on the ground.

Fire fighters had to spread Speedi-Dri on the spilled fluids from the two vehicles.  Once the two vehicles were removed the road was able to reopened by 9a.m.

Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
