Fairfield's First Selectman, Mike Tetreau, has issued a final storm status update.
The following is the statement released:
First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced today (Tuesday) that the Town of Fairfield has passed the crisis point of Storm Nemo and has now resumed its regular winter operations. While the Town is not 100% back to normal, CodeRED alerts will no longer be issued at this time and hopefully not anytime soon.
The Town reminds anyone traveling on local roads early tomorrow, Wednesday, February 13, 2013, to please be mindful that there may be students walking to school or waiting for school buses.
First Selectman Tetreau said, "I wish to thank everyone for their patience and understanding throughout this historic snowstorm. I want to give a special thank you to our DPW workers for everything they have done to help get our Town back up and running again."
This is First Selectman Michael Tetreau with a report from Fairfield's Emergency Management Team as of 11:00 a.m. Tuesday.
DPW continues to grind out the road clearing.
We made major progress on school parking lots, commuter parking lots and the downtown / Post Road area. We continue to work on getting roads "bus ready" for school tomorrow.
Our Town Hall Call Center handled almost 400 storm related calls yesterday.
Upcoming weather report - we are watching for a possible 2-4 inches Wednesday evening into Thursday. Another possible storm is coming this weekend, but it is too early to project snowfall.
If you are out shoveling, please clear any fire hydrants near your home.
We anticipate schools opening tomorrow, so please be extra careful on the roads looking out for both walkers and students waiting for buses.
Thank you for your cooperation and patience.
Stay safe.
