NORWALK, Conn. (WTNH) -- Firefighters extinguished an early morning blaze at a Norwalk home Tuesday.
The fire occurred around 1:40 a.m. at a single family home on Nash Place.
Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke and fire burning through the floor in front of the wood burning stove, just off the living room.
Officials said the fire was quickly extinguished and firefighters used portable cutting tools on the floor and basement ceiling to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.
The lone occupant of the home, a 50-year-old woman, was outside the home with police when firefighters arrived.
The woman was later transported to Norwalk Hospital with smoke inhalation.
Officials said the home was posted unfit for occupancy while the cause is investigated.
