FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Connecticut families are still struggling to get their lives back in order following the devastation of Superstorm Sandy.

FEMA has opened a field office in the state to help victims who suffered the worst of it.

News 8's Stephanie Simoni was on Reef Road, in Fairfield, where your first impression is the smell, which is a mixture of sewage and seawater.

Then, you see piles of wreckage.

And police are still there at night trying to deter looters.
