Fire damages Norwalk apartments

Norwalk, Conn. (WTNH) - A mother and daughter were taken to the hospital in serious condition after an apartment fire in Norwalk.

The mother who is in her 70's along with her daughter who is in her 50's were found unconscious by fire crews.

This happened on the fourth floor of the Sheffield Ridge Condominium Complex on Maple Street across from Norwalk Hospital around 4:20 a.m.

According to fire crews, all tenants of the 40 unit building waited outside while the fire was being put out. The fourth floor had been badly smoke damaged.

Tenants were let back in around 5:30 a.m.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
