NORWALK, Conn. (WTNH) -- Firefighters battled a blaze at a Norwalk home early Saturday morning.
The fire broke out around midnight, at a two-story wood frame home at 9 Talmadge Pl.
Upon arrival firefighters were met with heavy fire on the first and second floor.
As firefighters were fighting the fire on the first floor, other firefighters were making their way to the second floor when the stairs collapsed.
Three firefighters fell through the stairs.
One firefighter was burned on his left arm when fire burned through his fire coat. He was treated and released.
All four residents evacuated the home safely with no injuries.
The home had severe fire damage to all floors and was posted unfit for occupancy. The Red Cross is assisting the residents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
