WESTPORT, Conn. (WTNH) -- Firefighters broke through walls and used thermal cameras to find a fire in a Westport home Thursday afternoon.

The fire broke out shortly after 3 p.m., at a home on Harbor Rd.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from the roof in the rear of the home.

Officials said firefighters encountered heavy smoke on the third floor, but the fire was not visible.

They had to use hand tools to open up walls and thermal imaging cameras to find the fire, which originated in a ceiling on the 2nd floor and traveled inside the walls into the 3rd floor attic area and out through the roof.

Fire damage was contained to the 2nd floor bedroom, the attic and a section of the roof. Much of the remainder of the home sustained smoke and water damage.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
