Funerals set for Sandy Hook victims killed in rampage

NEWTOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — Funerals for the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims are being planned.

Statement from News 8 -- This week, the people of Newtown will be holding funerals for their lost loved ones. In many cases, these grieving families may ask the media to respect their privacy - in fact, some already have. WTNH News 8 will honor their wishes. These aren't the families of celebrities or public officials who made a conscious choice to be in the public eye. These are the mothers and fathers of the children and the husbands and families of the heroic women who all just wanted to go to school last Friday. If a family wants us to share their story, we will share it with you. We will continue to tell the story of this unthinkable tragedy, to tell the stories of those lost, those who were heroes and we hope to help search for answers in the future. Thank you for understanding.

The Connecticut Funeral Directors Association says Noah Pozner's funeral was scheduled for 1 p.m. on Monday at the Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home in Fairfield, Conn.

The funeral for Jack Pinto was set for 1 p.m. at Honan Funeral Home in Newtown on Monday.

The funeral for Jessica Rekos is 12 noon on Tuesday at the St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Rose Cemetery. The visitation and wake will be private.

The funeral for James Mattioli is Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, in Newtown.

The funeral for Caroline Previdi is Wednesday at noon at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be private.

The family of Chase Kowalski will receive friends at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, located at 315 Monroe Turnpike, in Monroe, from 2-6 p.m. Wednesday.

The funeral for Charlotte Helen Bacon is Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Newtown Village Cemetery. Calling hours are on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.

The funeral and burial for Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung will be private. Calling hours are from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home at 2 School Street.

The funeral for Benjamin Andrew Wheeler is on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church at 26 Main St. in Newtown. The burial will be private. Calling hours are from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday.

The funeral for Rachel Marie D'Avino will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Nativity on East Street in Bethlehem. The burial will be held at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. Calling hours are on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home.

The funeral for Dylan Christopher Jack Hockley is Friday at 1 p.m. at Walnut Hill Community Church at 156 Walnut Hill Road in Bethel.
