GREENWICH, Conn. (WTNH) -- New Yorkers hard-hit by Sandy are still making the drive to Connecticut to fill up their gas tanks.
However, since so many gallons have been crossing the border, some gas stations are completely out of fuel.
"I've never seen anything like this," Carmen Moretti said.
Moretti thought the worries would be over when the lines eased up at Greenwich gas stations, now his Shell station is out of gas.
"It's overwhelming, it's overbearing," Moretti said, "the supply has even depleted."
Moretti hopes the no gas sign comes down Friday night, early Saturday at the latest. His supplier tells him terminals in New Haven and Bridgeport have run out too. They'll get filled up first.
"The phone is ringing off the hook 'where can I get gas? Where can I get gas," said Moretti.
Most of them are New York drivers trying to avoid the lines at the very limited number of gas stations open.
"I still see people on the side of the road down there," said David Sprague, NY driver. "It's terrible."
"It's medieval," said Mike D'Angelo, NY driver. "I've never seen anything like this before."
Now, with the odd/even license plate gas rationing put in place by New York's Governor, he says Greenwich better get the pumps filled fast.
Take a look at some of the Report It photos we received in November, 2012.
