GREENWICH, Conn. (AP) - A group of Greenwich teens who gained national attention after the town shut down their makeshift Wiffle ball stadium three years ago may get their field of dreams after all.
Greenwich officials say they're scouting sites for a permanent or semi-permanent Wiffle ball field that could open as soon as this summer.
The search comes nearly three years after town officials evicted the teens from a vacant half-acre lot owned by the town and valued at $1.25 million. The teens had built a miniature version of Boston's Fenway Park, complete with bleachers, a backstop and the fabled Green Monster.
Greenwich officials say they always recognized the need and desire for a Wiffle ball field, though, and are looking at several locations where the sport's aficionados can play and hold tournaments.
