NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — U.S. immigration authorities say a Mexican man arrested in Stamford this summer for driving-related offenses will be removed from the United States for an 11th time.

Jose Angel Lopez Garcia pleaded guilty in August to illegally entering the country and was sentenced Thursday to time served.

Immigration officials say they discovered that the 27-year-old man had returned to the U.S. when they received his fingerprints through the federal Secure Communities program that was activated across Connecticut earlier this year. The program calls for the FBI to share fingerprints that it receives from local jurisdictions with immigration authorities at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

U.S. authorities say Lopez entered the country illegally several times between 1999 and 2010 before appearing again in Connecticut, where he was arrested on June 10.
