WESTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- Weston High School was put into lockdown Wednesday.
During the school day an officer assigned to the school was alerted by a staff member of a hand written note which made a reference to harming students and staff in general, police said.
As a precautionary measure and to ensure the safety and security of the students and staff, a lockdown was initiated.
Weston police officers and Weston high school staff members escorted the students safely out of the building to awaiting school buses.
State Police Emergency Services Unit K9 Division responded to the school and assisted with a search for evidence within the school.
Police said once the school was determined to be secure, the lockdown was lifted.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this matter should call Detective Carl Filsinger at (203) 222-2639.
