Malloy to tout new business coming to Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy is heading to Bridgeport to announce a new business that will open in the city, creating more than 300 full- and part-time jobs.

Malloy's office said on Saturday that the new business will also create 150 construction jobs. Spokesman David Bednarz did not immediately respond to a message seeking additional details.

Malloy is scheduled to go to Bridgeport on Sunday afternoon where he will join Mayor Bill Finch in announcing more details at a press conference.

Bridgeport officials, however, say the announcement centers on outdoor retailer Bass Pro Shops becoming the first tenant to Steel Point Harbor development, a long dormant waterfront site that the city is redeveloping.

Officials hope the 50-acre site will lure millions of visitors to the location who will then pour money into the local economy.
