NORWALK, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Norwalk man suffered burns and was taken to the hospital after a fire that appears to be arson destroyed a garage Wednesday morning.
According to Deputy Chief Stephen Shay, the fire appears to be arson. Chief Shay said someone threw gasoline on the victim and the home is being considered a crime scene.
The fire occurred at 42 Woodward Ave., and firefighters got there within a minute and a half after getting the call.
The detached garage was fully engulfed in flames and was destroyed in the fire. The heat from the flames was so intense it melted the vinyl siding on the house 30 feet away.
The unidentified burn victim was taken to Norwalk Hospital.
Both the Norwalk and state fire marshal are investigating how the fire started.
