Man pinned under lawn mower

SOUTHPORT, Conn. (WTNH) -- A man was taken to the hospital after being briefly pinned under a lawn mower in Southport Thursday.

The incident occurred around 1 p.m., at 385 Harbor Road.

Upon arrival, Fairfield firefighters were told that the occupant was cutting the grass in the rear yard of the home where the lawn is very steep and is separated by a retaining wall.

According to the occupant, he was cutting grass on the hill when the lawn mower he was riding on began to slide backwards. The tractor then slid over a small retaining wall and landed on top of him, briefly pinning him underneath until a coworker helped free him.

The man was put on a stretcher and taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center.
