Poughkeepsie, N.Y. (WTNH) - It was a somber day on the campus of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York as the community came together to remember the young lives that were taken away in a fire.
Three young people, including two from Connecticut were killed in a fire over the weekend.
Family members, fellow students and administrators went to the campus to remember and celebrate the lives of 21-year-old Eva Block of Woodbridge, 21-year-old Kevin Johnson of New Cannan and 21-year-old Keri Fitzsimmons of Commack, New York.
"Lord, we pray that nothing of Eva, Carrie or Kevin's life be lost. All that they held sacred be remembered and go on living in their families and friends in their hearts and minds," the Priest said.
The three young people were killed when a fire ripped through a house near the Marist campus over the weekend. Four others were able to jump to safety.
Investigators still have not determined the cause of the fire.
On Wednesday, the focus was on the victims.
Eva Block was a fashion design student. "Though your days here were brief, your spirit was alive, awake, complete," the Priest said.
A wake will be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hoyt Funeral Home in New Canaan for Kevin Johnson.
Then on Friday a mass and Christian burial will take place at Saint Aloysius Church on Cherry Street in New Cannan beginning at 11 a.m.
His family is asking for any donations to be made in Kevin's name to the Marist Fund.
