BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) -- Nearly a thousand people looking for jobs turned up today in Bridgeport at Housatonic Community College's 17th Annual Community Career Fair.

While there are signs the economy is improving there are still so many people out of work who rely on job fairs like this one.

"How optimistic are you," asked News 8.

"Very, very because at least your resume is getting out there, you're getting a name, a face and the information you need just to follow up," said Margo Martin.

"What I'm hearing from the folks here is basically positive. Hopefully in a couple of weeks, all will go well and I'll be employed," said Roland Chrisholm.

Organizers say the job fair is the largest event of its kind held in Fairfield County. About 60 companies took part.
