BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) -- A networking event at Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport on Friday brought together local and minority business owners.
Held annually, the business expo celebrates local small, minority and woman-owned businesses in the city.
It gives companies a chance to showcase their work and network with one another.
"We're trying to keep money here in the city of Bridgeport to create jobs and help the city and help the residents who live here find jobs and by having minority contracting and minority purchasing the money tends to stay here in Bridgeport," said Mayor Bill Finch.
"They help bring people like myslef together and it helps us network and meet other contractors, it's awesome," said Marshan Coleman who owns a construction company in the city.
Businesses showcased at the expo ranged from construction to beauty products.
