Bridgeport (WTNH) - It was also a great day for a swim. The annual Saint Vincent's Swim Across the Sound cancer Charity Fundraiser ended at Captain's Cove Marina in Bridgeport today.

250 swimmers made the journey all the way from Port Jefferson, New York.

The swim raises raise money for cancer research and for many, taking part is personal.

"My grandparents both suffered from cancer, both died when I was in high school," Danielle Honrath, a swimmer in the event, said. "They made a huge impact in my life, I felt this was the perfect way to swim in their memory."

The swim is sponsored by St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation.
