Fairfield (WTNH) - Fairfield Fire Department rescued a man from his vehicle after he crashed into the water off of Route 59 Saturday evening.
"The vehicle left the roadway, ran through several large bushes, over a lawn, and struck a tree on the far side of a seven-foot-deep waterway before coming to rest in the water," Chief George Gomola said in a news release. "The rear of the vehicle was suspended by its bumper and the front came to rest in the water."
The 2004 Infinity FX34 was in around 10 feet of water near Stratfield Road and Brooklawn Parkway when the fire department responded.
Firefighters used ladders to get to the victim.
"Special cribbing was constructed to shore up the vehicle prior to removing the occupant," Gomola said.
The 42-ear-old Easton resident was stabilized then transported to St. Vincent's Medical Center. No word on his current condition.
