New Fairfield (WTNH) - A bomb threat at the New Fairfield Middle School prompted officials to evacuate the school, as well as the high school located on the same campus. Both schools were eventually dismissed for the day.

The school superintendent tells News Channel 8 that a staff member received an anonymous e-mail indicating a bomb threat.

State police are investigating.

Students at both schools were evacuated around 7:25 a.m. and students were dismissed for the day around 9:10 a.m.

School will resume as normal on Thursday.
