Stamford Police, along with State Police, say to expect delays in the area of I-95S in Westport and Norwalk, near exits 16 and 17, as they search for evidence in connection to a shooting-homicide.

The shooting happened shortly before 6:00 p.m., Wednesday evening, on the city's West Side. A man was found on Stillwater Avenue, near West Main Street, with two gunshot wounds to the torso. He was transported to Stamford Hospital and died of his wounds shortly after arrival.

The victim is believed to be a 22-year-old Stamford resident and police are working to confirm his identity.

Stamford patrol officers, investigators and crime scene technicians worked through the night processing the crime scene and gathering evidence. They were assisted by canine units from nearby Greenwich and Westport Police Departments.

At this time there is limited information regarding suspect(s) or motive. The area is well-traveled, especially at this time of day, and investigators hope that potential witnesses who may have seen something related to this crime will contact them in the Crimes Against Persons unit, (203) 977-4417.
