Stratford (WTNH) - Crews from three different Connecticut newspapers are walking from Milford to Greenwich, reporting on everything they come across along the way.

It's not the best day for a walk along the Sound, but today and every day for the next three weeks, teams of reporters and photographers will walk every beach from Milford to Greenwich. Today Rob Varnon and Phil Noel from the Connecticut Post took their turn.

"And so far we've found people who are out fishing. They're expressing I guess their fear about what's going to happen to the fish stock," Varnon said.

Is that what they expected to find on their leg of the walk here in Stratford? It doesn't matter.

"We have some expectations, but at the same time, what's going to make it great are the people that you run into and the things that happen that are unexpected," said David McCumber, CT Media Group Editorial Director.

McCumber is the editor in charge of this series called "Breaking the Sound Barrier." It involves teams from the Greenwich Time, Stamford Advocate and Connecticut Post just walking the shoreline and reporting what they find.

"This is a way of both getting our readers to see parts of the Sound that they might not see any other way, and also to remind them of how precious it is," McCumber said.

This morning, beachgoers are talking to Rob about the environment and Phil the photographer is studying the garbage and everything else that washes up on shore.

"I don't know what I'm going to find out here, but there's news everywhere. Whether it's the plastic along the beach, or what season is it for horseshoe crabs," Phil said.

As the trip goes further south, reporters from the Stamford Advocate and Greenwich Time will take over.
