Trumbull (WTNH) - A large fire destroyed a family's home in Trumbull on Friday.

The fire quickly spread and engulfed the single-family house at 24 Cherry Gate Lane around 6 p.m. The fire burned through the roof and left the house unliveable. It took fire fighters from three different Trumbull Fire Departments along with help from Shelton, Monroe and others over two and a half hours to get the flames under control.

No one was injured. Red Cross is providing the family shelter.

No other structures within the area were threatened. No word on what caused the fire.
