Bank manager steals over $500,000

Trumbull (WTNH) - A bank branch manager was sentenced to 33 months in Federal Prison for stealing $516,000 from CD accounts.

Patricia Ariano, 60, of Trumbull was sentenced, Monday. She also will have three years of supervised release for stealing while employed as a bank manager.

On April 2nd, Ariano pleaded guilty to one count of bank fraud. According to court documents and statements, she was the branch manager of the Webster Bank branch located at 2 Daniels Farm Road in Trumbull.

Between February 2006 to March 2007, it was reported that Ariano processed fraudulent documentation to show that certain customers requested withdrawals of funds maintained in their CDs. There was no such requests made and some of the accounts were held by deceased individuals.

Ariano then withdrew funds maintained in seven separate CD accounts and converted that money to her own benefit.

She is to pay restitution of the $516,000 taken from Webster Bank.
