NEWTOWN, Conn. (WTNH) -- Authorities in Newtown are thinking safety and doing something about it today. They're introducing the Smart911 system.
The town will be the first municipality in Connecticut to use the service, which is already in use in 300 other cities around the country.
The Smart911 system allows residents to create online profiles that are displayed during 911 emergency calls .
The profile could include current pictures of everyone living in the house, a floor plan showing the various rooms, and other information that could help emergency responders.
More details will be announced later today.
Take a look at some of the Report It photos we received in November, 2012.
