Norwalk police crackdown on distracted drivers

Norwalk, Conn. (WTNH) -- If you drive through Norwalk, keep both hands on the wheel because police are looking for distracted drivers and speeders.

Norwalk police are targeting distracted drivers but they have no target and no goal on the number of tickets they plan to give out.

Norwalk police announced the crackdown last week. Police will focus on drivers texting while driving and talking on their cell phones.

The tickets can be costly, up to $200.

The ticket blitz comes two weeks after a teen driver hit killed jogger. It's not clear if that case involved distracted driving. It is still under investigation.

The crackdown will run during the morning and evening commute today and again tomorrow.
