NORWALK, Conn. (WTNH) -- The city of Norwalk is saying no to a proposal to build a mosque.

Wednesday night the planning and zoning commissioners rejected the plan to build a 27,000 square foot mosque on Fillow Street.

Neighbors didn't want the mosque there because of traffic and parking issues, and concerns that it would devalue their property.

However, members of the al-Madany Islamic Center say they need a place to worship.

The center is now weighing their options. They may appeal the decision or move forward with a new plan that would cut the building size.
