NORWALK, Conn. (AP) - A 62-year-old woman injured in an apartment fire in Norwalk this week has died.
The chief medical examiner's office on Wednesday confirmed that 62-year-old Judy O'Brien died after local officials said she suffered smoke inhalation and facial burns in Tuesday's fire. Her mother, 92-year-old Marjorie Johnson, was also injured in the fire and is being treated at Norwalk Hospital for smoke inhalation.
An autopsy is planned Thursday to try to determine O'Brien's cause of death.
The cause of the fire hasn't been announced, but local fire officials say it appeared to start in O'Brien's bedroom. Norwalk fire investigators are working with the state fire marshal's office.
Officials say the apartment had working smoke alarms.
No one else in the Maple Street complex was injured.
