MONROE, Conn. (WTNH) - Copper thieves caused an oil spill in Monroe.

DEEP and a Hazmat team were called to 90 Bagburn Hill Road. Some of the heating oil leaked out of a tank when copper pipping was removed from that tank.

About 150 gallons of heating oil leaked into Boys Halfway Brook which runs into Lake Zoar.

According to a DEEP spokesperson, no oil leaked into Lake Zoar, and the leak has been contained.

No arrests have been made.
