Over 7,800 customers lose power

    Bridgeport, Conn. (WTNH) - Update: Power has been completely restored, and UI is still investigating the cause.

    Nearly 8,000 UI customers are without power in Bridgeport.

    7,836 United Illuminating customers lost power on Wednesday afternoon.

    Additionally, 117 customers lost power in Trumbull and 884 found themselves in the dark in Fairfield.

    UI thinks the outages may have been caused by a problem with a substation.

    No word on when they think the power will be back on.
