Pedestrian dies after being hit by car

WESTPORT, Conn. (WTNH)--  A Fairfield man was killed after being stuck by a car while walking in Westport, on Saturday evening.

Police say Bruce Tabackman,68, was hit on the Post Road by Buckley Avenue North, around 6 PM. He was found laying in the westbound lane next to the vehicle, before being transported to Norwalk Hospital.

He was later pronounced deceased.

Police say preliminary information in the investigation is that Tabackman was not in a crosswalk when he was hit.

The driver of the car was not injured in the accident.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation. Westport police ask anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact them at 203-341-6000.
