Westport, Conn. (WTNH) - Many people in Fairfield County went on for the fifth day without power and about 15,000 residents are hoping that by tomorrow they can finally "see the light."
Nearby hotels can be seen with many lights on and without many vacancys; that's because nearby residents are staying there until power is restored in their own homes.
"It started Saturday afternoon. So, it's five days, another hotel, another night; hopefully tomorrow is the magic day," said John Wang of Westport.
As Wang goes to sleep in the hotel, CL&P crews will be working throughout the night to get the power on which some people say is not soon enough.
"I guess customers are the number one priority versus expenses," Wang said.
CL&P said that branches are what is causing the problem; they come down on power lines, clog up roads and knock down poles.
CL&P has managed to get about 30,000 customers back on but they have about 15,000 more to go. They say they have 200 crews, as well as 130 tree cutting crews, trying to get the power back on as quickly as possible.
