WILTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- Pond Road in Wilton was closed down after a chemical fire broke out.

An environmental contractor was preparing to inject a chemical solution into the soil of a home on Pond Road. The yard was undergoing renovation after a previous home heating oil contamination.

A chemical reaction occurred as the contractor was preparing the mix. The reaction caused a high volume of heat to be produced and caused the mixing tank to partially decompose.

Firefighters, HAZMAT and DEEP crews were called to the home to put out the fire and clear the area.

No one was injured in the incident and the home was not damaged.
