Firefighters put out second floor apartment fire in Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. (WTNH) -- Norwalk Fire Dept. fought a second floor apartment fire on Monday.

Norwalk Fire Dept. responded to a reported house fire at 8 Ridge St. Upon arrival there was heavy fire showing from the second floor apartment.

The fire started in the kitchen and dining area of the second floor.

Officials say the fire is still under investigation but appears to be from a discarded cigarette.

There were no injuries.

The fire happened at a three story house with multiple apartments and an attached two story in the rear.

The fire dept. responded with three engines and two ladder companies.

The fire was under control in about 20 minutes.
