NEWTOWN, Conn. (WTNH) -- The mourning continues in Newtown and other Connecticut communities as loved ones come together to say their final goodbyes today to six students and staff members of Sandy Hook Elementary School.
Six-year-old Charlotte Bacon, who wanted to be a veterinarian, will be laid to rest. Her service starts at one o'clock at the Christ the King Lutheran Church.
Seven-year-old soccer player and swimmer Daniel Barden will be buried today. His service starts at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Newtown.
Services will also be at St. Rose today for 6-year old Caroline Previdi, a girl whose family says brought happiness to everyone she touched. Her funeral mass starts at noon and her burial will be private.
The burial ceremony for Chase Kowalski will also be private. His family says the seven-year old had a "true love of life." His family will receive friends at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home in Monroe starting at 2:00 p.m.
There's also a funeral service today for teacher Victoria Soto. She's been called a hero for protecting her children. That starts at 10:00 a.m. at the Lordship Community Church in Stratford.
And a private burial is planned for beloved Sandy Hook principal Dawn Hochstrung. Her wake is at the Woodbury Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m. this afternoon.
Most of the services are for family and friends only. News 8 is respecting the wishes of the families and will not be attending any wakes or funerals.
One of those buried Monday was six-year-old Jack Pinto. He was buried wearing a jersey of his favorite New York Giant, Victor Cruz. There is word that Cruz quietly visited the Pinto family Monday at their home in Newtown. He reportedly spent about an hour with the family.
