Rocky Hill, Conn. (WTNH) - A Wilton woman and her sister will be splitting $200,000 after winning the March 30th Powerball game.
Kimberlee Smith bought the tickets on a whim while shopping for lunch meat at the Village Market in Wilton. Though her sister Robin Lytle lives in Manhasset, New York, they stay in touch constantly.
“Bought 5 tix for tonight’s Powerball,” Kimberlee texted Robin. The next morning, Kimberlee texted even better news to her sister. “We won!”
Robin immediately called Kimberlee and learned that they had matched the first 5 numbers drawn in the March 30th Powerball game, 19 - 20 - 42 - 56 - 58, but missed having the Powerball number of 37.
“For the last six months or so, we’ve taken turns buying tickets. When she told me we missed the Powerball, but all the rest of the numbers came in, we just started screaming,” Robin said.
Robin and Kimberlee came to the CT Lottery Headquarters in Rocky Hill to claim their prize; after taxes, they both took home a check for $68,000.
