NORWALK, Conn. (WTNH)-- The Norwalk Fire Department responded to five separate car accidents on I-95 and the Route 7 connector on Saturday night, due to slippery road conditions.
The calls started to come in around 9:30 PM, with the first one involving a car on its side at exit 14 southbound, fire department officials say.
The only occupant of the car was not injured and managed to climb out of the moon roof. They were later transported to Norwalk hospital for observation.
The fire department said the other accidents were single cars spinning out and coming to rest on the guard rail, or Jersey barriers, or disabled in travel lanes facing the wrong way.
Fire apparatus blocked lanes to protect the accident scenes before the travel lanes were reopened.
Off the highway, a car slid through the intersection of Patrick Road and Wolfpit Avenue in Norwalk, sending the driver to the hospital with minor injuries. Fire crews worked to stop the vehicle fluids from entering the storm drains.
