Stamford admits Freedom of Information violations

STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) — A Stamford agency has admitted to five violations of the Freedom of Information Act and will go through compliance training to settle a complaint.

The Advocate of Stamford reports that the agreement stipulates that the Water Pollution Control Authority Board of Directors will participate in a Freedom of Information workshop after failing to properly notice and record several public meetings in January and February.

Former Board of Finance Chairman Joe Tarzia filed the complaint, one of several Freedom of Information cases over the last year involving Stamford departments, boards and commissions.

Director of Legal Affairs Joe Capalbo says the city is working to improve its compliance with the Freedom of Information Act.
